Getting around Jersey is quite easy. Many people usually use cars, but walking and cycling are also major forms of transport as the Island is not very large.

Cycling is largely favoured as it gives individuals the opportunity to explore the various coastlines, sites and tracks. Cycling around Jersey is both satisfying and relaxing, even for those who are not cycling gurus or at the peak of physical fitness.

One can cycle to various parts of the Island, especially if one is trying to beat traffic. The speed limit is usually 15mph and there are various signs that mark the routes.

For those who need to take a break, there are plenty of sites with excellent views where you can stop over and take a rest. As some of the historical sites in the northern part of the Island are off the cycling paths, you will get plenty of exercise walking to the sites. Climbing the hills will allow you to take advantage of fantastic views.
In the Southern part of the Island, you would be well advised to use a bicycle as there are many traffic snarl ups in the area.  A bicycle would be much faster.

The nickname cycling Jersey even caused the outfits for cycling to be named after the Island. There are cycling jersey shorts and tops for cyclists and also women’s cycling jersey. Most of these custom cycling jersey outfits are available in shops across Europe and internationally.

For instance the Jersey Museum, situated at the Weighbridge, is the perfect place to learn about the Island’s history. The Jersey Water Tunnel is another great Jersey museum which shows the History of the Island when it was under the control of Germany during the Second World War.

The historical buildings of Jersey are a sight to behold, beginning with the Castles such as the Elizabeth Castle and the Fort Regent. The wildlife of Cycling Jersey is worth having a look at considering that they are species of animals. The Durrell conservation trust houses endangered species of wild animals some of which can be found only in Jersey.
