There is always something to do in Jersey and Jersey 2009 promises to be even better. You need not plan to visit Jersey at a specific time of year to catch the most exciting events. Jersey 2009 has events lined up for you throughout the year.

It is well into the year now and you may not have had the chance to begin your year with a bang. It’s not too late to set the year off on a high note. March in Jersey 2009 promises to be exciting for art lovers.

The Textile Showcase featuring innovative textile art from England, France and other islands in the English Channel is set to run from the 9th to the 15th. If this is not your cup of tea, but you still fancy art then attend the March Spring Flower Show on the 28th and 29th of the month and see the award winning produce of the Royal Jersey Agricultural and Horticultural Society.

If you enjoy sailing, the annual Jersey Boat show that runs from the 2nd of May to the 4th will give you an opportunity to brush shoulders with super yacht and cruiser owners. Learn all you can about sailing and maintaining large and small boats.
Jersey 2009 would not be complete without the Liberation Day celebrations. Join the local Islanders in commemorating the day the island was liberated from the occupying forces. Enter the war bunkers and barracks and experience history first hand. Take part in the commemorative service and feel like part of Jersey.

If you want to discover Jersey in greater detail, then take advantage of the Spring Walking Week set to begin on the 16th of May and conclude on the 23rd. This series of guided walks will help you discover Jersey’s heritage sites and appreciate the Island’s beauty from a closer range. It doesn’t matter what age you are as the walks have designed to suit different age groups.

Do you fancy sports? The Jersey Seniors Open is slated for Thursday the 11th to Sunday the 14th of June. This prestigious international golf tournament is set to attract golfers and spectators from all corners of the globe.
Jersey 2009 cannot end without the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Durrell’s Wildlife Conservation Trust. This is set to occur on the 12th of July. This will be on a Sunday and therefore there will be lots of fun and entertainment for the entire family.

Jersey is well known for its year round festivals. Almost every month of the calendar bares Jersey festivals which are big events on the Island. The locals and the tourists enjoy events such as the Autumn walking week where they get to discover and appreciate the Island’s heritage through guided tours, the Gorey Fete de la Mer, the Spring Walking Week, the International Air display, Le Fete de Noue, Jersey Battle of Flowers and the Jersey live festival.
